The Royal Women’s Hospital (The Women’s)

The Royal Women’s Hospital is Australia’s first and largest specialist hospital dedicated to improving the health of all women and newborns. It is a major teaching hospital and internationally recognised for its medical research.

The Women’s is among the oldest and most distinguished of women’s hospitals in the world today, advocating for new approaches to women’s health for more than 160 years. Each year, it provides in excess of 250,000 episodes of care for women from 189 countries, who speak 90 different languages and follow 69 separate religious faiths.

The hospital moved to its purpose-built facility in the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct in 2008.
