Melbourne was recognised as the world’s most liveable city for seven successive years.
The Economist Intelligence Unit’s prestigious annual Global Liveability Rating, which assesses living conditions in 140 cities worldwide, released its latest ratings on 16 August 2017. Melbourne once again tops the ranking, followed by Vienna, Vancouver and Toronto.
Melbourne scored an overall rating of 97.5 (100 = ideal), including full marks for education, healthcare and infrastructure.
In Victoria more people are employed than ever before and in the past year alone, more jobs have been created in Victoria than the rest of Australia combined.
Our world-class international education sector has more than 175,000 international students studying in Victoria, and our Universities consistently rank among the world’s best.
We’re leading the country in small business growth, welcoming over 15,300 new businesses in the past 12 months. And more international tourists visited Victoria last year than ever before, spending $7.3 billion in our hotels, shops and cafes.
